BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in France, Bernard was attracted to music early in his life. Growing up, Bernard played guitar with various groups in Paris. During the early 80's, Bernard moved forward in developing his instrumental techniques, by studying under jazz guitarist Pierre Cullaz in Paris. This became a turning point in Bernard's musical career, inspiring him to begin studying classical and contemporary music. Bernard subsequently emigrated to Quebec in 1985 and involved in music at University of Montreal. Graduating in 1989 with a degree in technical scoring, he pursued his studies by completing a master’s degree in composition with Michel Longtin.

Bernard was honored with several awards, including one from the Centre for Cultural and Creative Activities in Quebec. In 1989 he founded the Edena group, bringing together sculpture, theatre and music. 

 

Bernard Epaud's strenght today, is linked to his particular fascination for all kind of music styles like pop. rock, jazz, world, latin, contemporary and electroacoutic music. He produce and realize arrangments and pre-productions in studio for different artists. Since 1991, Bernard has composed soundtracks for videos, exhibitions, documentary, TV pilots, fiction movies , wed sites.

In 1995, he founded the Katjar Trio, which was inspired by different musical currents such as jazz, Arab, Spanish and Latin music as well as contemporary expressions. He produces and realizes three cds with the ensemble and particpate at several perfromances in Quebec. (International Jazz festival of Montreal 1999,2000 and 2003 edition nomimnated to the GM competition with a special award). Between 1999 and 2016 Bernard  has been a teacher in sound engineering at l’École du Show Business, Tribas Institut, Recordig Arts of Canada (RAC) and Musitechnic in Montreal.

In 2010 he produces his first solo  album  Reflexions and a second in 2012 Moments intimes both well received by the press. In 2017  He fonds  with bassist Maurice Spitz the group Karuna and The D.M.B Trio and will produces an  album with both groups for 2018.

In 2023, Bernard produce a new solo album Nuances  in collaboration with various artists between France and Quebec. A blend of Nu-Jazz and funk.
